A really unique natural black horn button
that has two Roman heads attached to an escutcheon
that goes through a little metal disk with a hole
in the center to a loop shank on the back of the button.

A detailed molded horn button of Minerva
the Goddess of the hunt.
Backmarked, "L. G. J. & F., Depose".
Molded horn is natural black horn that was heated
and then pressed or molded into recognizable pictures.
The shank goes through a little metal disk with a hole
in the center forming loop shank on the back of the button.
Has a tiny nick on the upper left rim.
The picture does not show the great detail this button has!

Two putti holding on to the horns of a mask of Pan.
There is an oval between them with a flower inside.
Similar to: BBB - p.439 #12. Made in the mid 1880's.
